There are times whereby everything feels so heavy, sometimes for a reason and sometimes for no particular reason.
There are times whereby I am overwhelmed by emotions, yes I am such a deep feeler so there’s that.
I can honestly say I do personally deal with emotions or feelings my way sometimes like having a light snack which sometimes elevates my mood, say a short prayer, read the bible, any book or an article, writing, take a walk and watch something. Those coping mechanisms do work at times but sometimes don’t.
What I’ve learnt in this journey is that distracting yourself from feeling something deeply rarely works long-term.
What usually helps in a very effective way is intentionally praying, reading, listening and meditating on the word of GOD. I can add; evangelizing and talking to someone about how I feel.
Christian content helps a lot too it always gives me some sort of comfort, through it I get to know & remember that I am not alone.
In Hebrews 4:12 the Bible says, “For the word of GOD is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and of discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
I can testify a million or billion times about how powerful and active the word of GOD is.
I could be upset, angry, feeling down and even crying but the moment I sit and read the word of GOD, suddenly everything changes. Oh LORD you alone knows how you do this!
The word has the ability to uplift my spirit, bring joy, soothe my mind and heart, comforts me, it moves me in different ways that I may not be able to explain.
It can bring me to my knees, it can command obedience and surrender, leads me to praise and worship.
It speaks the language that my soul and spirit understands. It fills me.
There are so many reasons why GOD gave us HIS word, HE wrote and created it on purpose and for a purpose. HE speaks to HIS creation through it.
“HE restores my soul. HE leads me in paths of righteousness for HIS name sake”(Psalm 23:3).
The word of GOD restores me, it changes and recharges me.
