Oh, this is the topic I’ve been dragging my feet to write about for no particular reason🤦♀. It’s somehow a bit personal and so relatable because GOD has used so many things, especially waiting to mold me through HIS mighty hand.
I don’t want to sugarcoat anything but be as honest as possible.. .
Waiting on GOD can be hard especially if it’s longer than normal. That is why I don’t ever judge people who have turned away from GOD as they have experienced and felt as if HE failed them.
I mean, if you read the story of Abraham and Sarah in the Bible(Genesis) about their promise from GOD to have a child you’ll understand what it takes to trust and wait on GOD.
The barren woman Sarah was promised to be a mother of nations, which was seemingly impossible to man but divinely possible to GOD. Let me mention the things the pair went through especially Sarah throughout; the pain, mocking, embarrassment, disappointment, shame, sin, belittlement, doubt, resentment towards GOD, and more.
Does this above statement give you some understanding that even those with greater faith struggled with waiting on GOD?
My intentions are not to condone our behavior, feelings, thoughts, attitude, and all but rather validate it all, because I understand that GOD knows it all and HE cares!
Waiting on GOD can be daunting, angering, irritating, and can be filled with struggle, pain, and tears, yet it can also be filled with peace, joy, rest, humility, and holy character.
The reason why I can write about both sides, is I’ve been through both. There’s been a time in my life when I was at peace with GOD, HIS plan, and timing, I rejoiced at the time regardless knowing that GOD will bring HIS promises to pass, had my back, and will definitely answer my prayers the best way HE possibly can.
There’s also been a time when I would be fed up with the waiting, annoyed by praying, reading the word, and any positive gospel message that stirred up my faith, when calm sweet conversations with GOD turned into murmuring, it’s been crazy😅. Faith+waiting? Can be a hell of a ride😅…
It’s easy to share all these things about our faith journey when we’ve passed through them; when what GOD intended to produce has been.
What comes out of the waiting? I’ll count a few…
It’s patience, humility, strengthened faith, getting to know GOD deeply and more of HIS love.
As difficult as the process may be, the outcome is worth it. Some truth that is hard to accept for most of us is that everything GOD does, or allows to happen is for our good.
If everything happened the way I wanted, planned, and dreamed, would there be any seed of patience in me? I mean humility? Being prideful is all that I could be. Think of a brat child that always gets its way, is it likable? Can you stand it?
Why would then GOD let us be like that if HE intends to use and glorify HIMSELF through us? If HE intends us to dwell in HIS holy presence? To be used by GOD will cost each and every one of us, there are requirements and sacrifices involved.
In 2 Timothy 2:20, the Bible states that in the great house, there are different vessels for different purposes. If you and I can personalize that scripture and try to understand that as GOD is working in us HE also intends to use us for HIS divine purposes, our whole perspective would be much different.
How would that be? Will we still be impatient, and angered? Lack understanding of GOD’s purpose with every season that comes?
There are so many Bible verses that can help us shift our perspective during hard times and help us lean on JESUS instead of running away from HIM. That is why it’s very important to study and know the Word.
Here are some Bible verses for encouragement today:
Lamentations 3:25 – The LORD is good to those who wait for HIM.
Isaiah 64:4 – From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a GOD besides you, who acts for those who wait for HIM.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will make your paths straight.
Waiting on GOD is hard work, it’s not easy.
It could be a time for pruning, character development, a humbling process, breaking down addictions or idols, life redirection, and other purposes that GOD intends to fulfill.
There’s no shame in struggling through it, GOD knows and knew that we will struggle, HE knows our shortcomings, and we are frail after all that is why we rely on HIM as HE is our unshakable rock.
Surrender it all to HIM, cast all your burdens to HIM, and watch how HIS plan for your life unfolds.
Be comforted and encouraged in your waiting, be strengthened, may the LORD who made you and planned your whole life carry you through and through in JESUS Name.🙂🙏💕
So inspiring, keep it up🙏🏾
